Discharge 1-2-3 discharge instructions software provides patient documentation for first responders injured in the line of duty

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Medical Unit Rehab Crew (MURC, pronounced "mercy"), a specialized

emergency task force located at the Atascocita Fire Department (AVFD), outside Houston, TX, is using Discharge 1-2-3 discharge instructions software for patient documentation for first responders injured in the line of duty. The MURC team provides initial care in the field, and its Advance Practice Paramedics perform sutures, provide antibiotics and write prescriptions among other treatments. MURC is deployed to take care of other first responders during disasters like wildfires and hurricanes. This unique collaborative agreement enables MURC to ensure on the spot quality care and treatment to the first responders working at the forefront of disasters. Discharge 1-2-3 makes it fast and easy for MURC team members to create high-quality discharge instructions that are given to injured first responders at the disaster site.

Discharge 1-2-3 software allows the team to provide patient-specific discharge instructions, medication information and document referrals to follow up care. According to Chief Ed Roth, AVFD EMS, "The addition of Discharge 1-2-3 allows us to ensure we are part of the continuum of care for our patients and allows for medical director oversite and easy transition to physician care."

MURC is part of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force (TXEMTF), a cutting-edge program to create state-deployable medical teams, regionalized for rapid mobilization and readiness. Atascocita Fire Department is the lead agency for the MURC team and is under the command of Michael Mulligan, Fire Chief, Sean Conley Assistant Chief-EMS and Sean Richardson Assistant Chief–Fire. MURC is a regional team with members from the Cy-Fair Fire Department, Harris County ESD 5 (Crosby, Texas), Harris County ESD 48, as well as AVFD. Dr. Kimberly Waaso, Atascocita Fire Department, is the lead medical director and all providers practice under a standard set of team protocols with 24-hour physician back up.

Texas is at the forefront in developing a well-coordinated regional response to emergencies. Other innovative TXEMTF resources include Mobile Medical Units, AMBUSes (school buses converted to ambulances), Ambulance Strike Teams, RN Strike Teams, an Infectious Disease Response Unit, and Medical Incident Support Teams.

Headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, Discharge 1-2-3 - Callibra, Inc. is a Patient Document Technology Company and past winner of the Chicago Innovation Award. Fully integrated or interfaced into all major EMR systems, such as Epic, Allscripts, Meditech, Picis, CMR, EDIMS, and others, Discharge 1-2-3 solutions are used in hundreds of hospitals for tens of millions of patient discharges annually. http://www.discharge123.com/.
