The patent was issued based on a design inherent in the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System and is the second eye-safety patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the proprietary design of the TRIA laser.

TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal System is the first hand-held laser for at-home hair removal cleared by the FDA and available for sale directly to consumers in the US market.
