TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal System is the first hand-held laser for at-home hair removal cleared by the FDA and available for sale directly to consumers in the US market. TRIA Laser Hair Removal System was developed by the same team of scientists that invented the professional technology back in 1993. And, it uses that same laser technology as those professional devices, which are still considered the gold-standard among dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

One of the keys to bringing this professional technology to the personal-use market was developing an eye-safe design. Most in-office professional lasers require both physician and patient to wear protective goggles to shield their eyes from the laser beam. However, the TRIA laser was designed with patented Diffuse Radiance Technology(TM) that enables the laser to deliver therapeutic levels of laser energy that will not harm the retina. Patent #7,452,356 complements the original patent, #7,250,045 that TRIA Beauty received for Diffuse Radiance Technology(TM). No goggles are required when using the TRIA laser as a result of this breakthrough technology, which converts coherent laser light into incoherent light. In fact, the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System carries the lowest Laser Hazard Classification (Class I) of any laser product currently available to consumers, a safer rating than most common laser pointers.

"What differentiates TRIA Laser Hair Removal System from other light-based hair removal devices is it uses a powerful laser to provide effective, lasting results," said Robert Grove, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer and founder of TRIA Beauty. "And by incorporating our patented eye-safety technology, consumers can feel more comfortable using TRIA Laser Hair Removal System at home."

The TRIA Laser is currently sold in the U.S. at Bergdorf Goodman, STUDIO at Fred Segal, Bliss Spas, select physician offices and at www.triabeauty.com.
