Gifts Provide Resources for Lodging and Wellness Needs

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of a broader commitment to support military personnel and their

families, the not-for-profit Sutter Health network donated a total of $35,000 to Fisher House Foundation and Operation HomeFront—two military-support organizations dedicated to improving the lives of service men and women in Northern California.

"Our nation is grateful for the selfless service and bravery of our veterans and active military," said Sarah Krevans, CEO of Sutter Health. "We're especially proud of the nearly 1,400 veterans who are part of our Sutter Health family. These team members enhance our organization with diverse skills and experience from their military life, often earned in the face of adversity. It is our privilege to count them as partners who help us deliver care that is meaningful to our patients and families."

About the DonationsThe Fisher House Foundation provides lodging for the families of military members undergoing medical treatment for a combat-related injury, illness or disease. Sutter Health's $25,000 donation will help families stay for free at one of the Fisher House facilities in Sacramento, Palo Alto and Hawaii. This donation will also support the purchase of vital supplies such as food and personal care items for families staying in the facilities.

Operation HomeFront offers relief to military families and wounded veterans through emergency financial assistance. Sutter Health's $10,000 donation will help support families in Northern California in a variety of ways, including home repairs, groceries, school supplies and holiday meals. Additionally, Operation HomeFront connects the families they serve with resources for longer-term assistance, if needed.

Sutter's Ongoing Commitment to VeteransSutter Health greatly values the contributions military veterans provide—to the United States as well as to its network. Sutter Health partners with the Employment Development Department to promote jobs for military members seeking employment. Additionally, the health care organization's military recruitment efforts include participation in military career fairs and posting to online military job boards. Sutter Health also teamed up with Veteran Jobs Mission, a national organization committed to employing and mentoring veterans.
