Summa Health Network Announces Contract with MDdatacor to Support Multi-Insurer Health Care Quality Initiative; Initiative to Use Clinical Data to Supplement Claims Data and Enhance Outcomes

ATLANTA, Jan. 5 MDdatacor, Inc., a leader in health carequality management solutions for insurers and health care providers, todayannounced a new contract with Summa Health Network (SHN), thephysician-hospital organization of Summa Health System, one of the largestorganized delivery healthcare systems in Ohio. SHN is currently participatingin a quality initiative with two national insurers and one regional insurer,all of which have historically relied solely on claims data for qualityanalysis.

MDdatacor will support SHN's multi-payer health care quality initiativethrough its patented and interoperable CareInformatix(TM) technology, whichwill enable SHN and its insurers to compare claims-based data to actualclinical data. Clinical data is better suited for providing physicians withactionable data as part of a quality initiative.

The focus of SHN's initiative is to use evidence-based, clinical qualitymeasures to monitor diabetes, hypertension, depression, cancer screenings,osteoporosis, hyperlipidemia, asthma, smoking cessation, immunizations, andattention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among SHN physicians' patientpopulations.

SHN's voluntary physician initiative launches in January 2009 and willseek to analyze and improve cost, quality, and utilization patterns of caredelivered across three health insurance plans' participants currently beingcared for by SHN physicians.

MDdatacor's technology automates the collection of clinical data fromphysician practices' existing data sources, including transcription,electronic medical record (EMR), practice management, lab, and registrysystems.
