Dr. Stephen Wexler, who has been performing refractive surgery since 1991, currently serves as the LASIK surgeon at TLC Laser Eye Centers in St. Louis. One of the most experienced surgeons in the Midwest, Dr. Wexler has more than 60,000 LASIK and PRK procedures under his belt. "A lot of doctors, not only eye doctors but all kinds of doctors, come to me for their LASIK surgery, and it's an honor and a privilege," said Dr. Wexler.
In addition to his work as a TLC Laser Eye Centers surgeon, Dr. Wexler is a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is also board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Throughout his long and storied career, in addition to being honored as one of the 2017-2018 Best Doctors in America®, Dr. Wexler has received an array of other recognitions, including being named "Teacher of the Year" by the residents of the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine in 1996 and earning recognition as a top five LaserVision® surgeon in the United States in 2002. Furthermore, for three decades of teaching refractive surgery to residents and fellows at Washington University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in St. Louis, Dr. Wexler received the school's Distinguished Service Award.
