The new SCVS hospital complex includes surgery, physical therapy andrehabilitation, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, neurology andcardiology services. In addition to digital radiology and ultrasound, SCVSalso provides CT, on-site Antech laboratory testing, laparoscopy, endoscopy,video-otoscopy and chemotherapy. All of the supporting imaging modalities andmedical reports are integrated within Eklin's VIA software and RapidPACS(TM)image management systems.

Just as digital cameras have made photography easier and more efficient byeliminating film, DR systems provide the veterinarian with a radiographicimage that can be viewed immediately onsite or at a review workstation,including a high-resolution monitor, without the need for film development.Sophisticated ultrasound technology provides real-time images for observationof organs, such as the heart, other soft tissue and blood flow.
The digital images are stored, archived and retrieved electronicallythrough Eklin's RapidPACS system and integrated with the VIA medical recordand other reports. Based on DICOM standards, images from all compliant digitalimaging modalities (such as ultrasound or CT) can be integrated for acomprehensive view of a patient's imaging and medical records. Thisinformation can be electronically shared throughout SCVS' expanded facility orwith the referring veterinarian.
