"I'm really happy with the result of the competition. Our team worked hard to develop a strategy and have done a lot of research. This will accelerate our ability to bring our innovations to the market even faster. " Chris Pesce, Co-Founder and COO of Sober Grid said after receiving the award.

Sober Grid is an iOS/Android app designed to help people recover from drug and alcohol addiction. Using evidence-based modalities, Sober Grid provides a supportive community of over 135,000 members along with 24/7 peer recovery coaching.

"The statistics are grim – someone with addiction works hard to break the cycle, but 40-60% percent of people will relapse," said Beau Mann, CEO of Sober Grid. "We built Sober Grid so those in recovery could feel the support of others going through it.

According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundations website, Substance misuse affects millions of people from all walks of life. The impact of drug misuse is significant not only on patients, but also on their families, friends and the healthcare system at large. In particular, the rate of opioid addiction has skyrocketed over the last 5 years, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and millions of patients addicted to prescription opioids and increasingly heroin and fentanyl.

Research has shown that peer recovery coaching benefits include reduction in ER visits, hospital days and re-hospitalization, as well as recidivism. Studies also show those who have coaching are more engaged in treatment and have better overall health.

Sober Grid is currently providing 24/7 peer support along with its social networking platform. Sober Grid is actively looking for partners, collaborators, and investors to help it continue to save lives and create a dent in the Opioid Epidemic.
