Resource Helps Pharmacists Understand the Credentialing and Contracting Processes and Expand Clinical Services for Patients

EVANS, Ga., Dec. 04, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- STRAND Clinical Technologies, the innovative market leader in developing

and supporting clinical services for pharmacies, announced today the launch of the STRAND Training Center. This online resource will help community pharmacists achieve contracted, in-network status with insurance payers and obtain the capability to receive reimbursement for providing clinical services to identified patients. Services include Diabetes Self-Management Education, the Diabetes Prevention Program, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and several others.

Pharmacies across the country are feeling the pressure of reduced reimbursement models from DIR fees and PBMs. The new clinical landscape represents an untapped multi-million dollar market that will help offset the reduction in revenue. As pharmacies look to add additional revenue streams into their workflow, contracting and credentialing directly with payers for clinical services is the necessary first step.

"One of the biggest opportunities for community pharmacies is reimbursement of services they are already providing… or are capable of providing," said David Pope, chief of innovation and co-founder of STRAND Clinical Technologies. "STRAND is excited to launch our re-imagined support resource, the STRAND Training Center. We will continue to innovate and create tools empowering the community pharmacist to provide clinical services in the communities they serve."

The STRAND Training Center is a virtual training solution for pharmacists guiding them through the credentialing and contracting processes. It also provides Diabetes Self-Management Education training and accreditation support as well as in-depth Diabetes Prevention Program training.

"Previously, I had found credentialing and contracting very confusing, which left me hesitant about expanding the patient care services offered by my pharmacy," shared Lindsey Meston, a clinical pharmacist with Asti's South Hills Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA. "The STRAND Training Center changed all of that. Its step-wise approach was easy to follow and extremely helpful."

The STRAND Training Center, as well as other proprietary pharmacy software tools, are available via the STRAND® Intervention Platform and through other pathways. The STRAND® platform offers single sign-on integration with many of the industry's top pharmacy management systems – including ComputerRx, Rx30, McKesson, and PioneerRx – allowing the pharmacist to engage patients within their current pharmacy workflow.
