VENTURA, Calif., July 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- STARKART, the largest grocery cart advertising company in the U.S. and Canada, and the NALA, a digital marketing agency headquartered in Ventura, CA, are spearheading the donation drive for the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF). This altruistic organization is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) providing financial and emotional support to families of children with cancer living in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties.

The donation drive takes place from July 15 to August 9. Items needed include crayons, pencils, notebooks, composition books, markers, glue, kid scissors, folders, 3 ring binders, glue sticks, pencil pouches, colored pencils, pens, stickers, and backpacks. Donated items can be dropped off at the Ventura, CA, office, 1891 Goodyear Ave., Suite 620, or the Encino location at 5535 Balboa Blvd., Suite 210.

"Many of the children we help through our programs at Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation have had emotional, social, physical, and academic challenges that they've had to overcome. They've additionally missed a significant amount of time from school due to doctor appointments, treatments, chemotherapies and in some cases, surgeries," said Lindsey Leonard, Executive Director of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. "We are grateful to have STARKART and the NALA host a back-to-school drive to outfit our kids with critical supplies, such as backpacks, pencils, and notebooks, so that they can have a greater opportunity to be successful with their academics."

In addition to helping families during the holidays or at special times during the year with items such as holiday presents, canned food at Thanksgiving or Easter baskets, TBCF also helps defray costs that are often overlooked. These include monthly bills (rent/mortgage, utilities, etc.), automobile and related transportation costs, and other similar expenses, as parents usually have to take time off work or quit their jobs to spend quality time caring for their child in the hospital during their treatment.

TBCF offers programs that allow parents to be supported and to know they are not alone, so they can focus on their child's well-being during one of the most difficult times of their young life. These include a financial stability program, emotional support program and educational advocacy program. Its vision is to be the lead agency to instill resilience in families experiencing pediatric cancer.
