SPAR Hypermarket Partners With UF to Lead Bengaluru Towards a Healthier 2018

BENGALURU, January 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --

SPAR, the world's largest food store chain with over 12,000

stores in 38 countries across 4 continents joined hands with UF Academy & Studios (UF) for their initiative, The Run. The event, presented by Max Life Health Insurance, will be held on 7th January 2018 in partnership
with Karnataka State Police and SPAR. The Run will support Tasalli, a non-profit organisation that works towards women's empowerment.

Fitness Lifestyle and dietary choices are increasingly becoming important in India. These shared values are becoming a foundation for many a partnerships with a focus on educating & guiding the country's populace re their choices & impact.  Speaking about the initiative, Mr Pearlaj Cannivady, Vice President - Marketing at SPAR Hypermarket said, "We are delighted to be partnering with 'The Run' in Bengaluru. At SPAR, we believe in 'eat healthy, live better', and what better way to do it than to 'Run.'" 

The Run will bring together people from different backgrounds - from businesses and organisations to families and friends to runners and distinguished athletes like Ms. Vaishali Kasture, Global Marathoner, MD & Country Head of Experian India; Mr. Thomas Bobby Philip, India's marathon man, the first to run the Boston Marathon barefoot; Mr. Kothandapani, a prolific runner and one of the top coaches in India. The event will be flagged off by eminent tennis player and Davis Cupper & Asiad medalist Mr. Srinath Prahlad.

Sharing his vision about 'The Run', Mr. Ravish Dhamija, founder at UF said, "Fitness and sports need to be integral to our culture and lifestyle. Sports events bring people together and better lifestyle... More than personal best, The Run was founded on the principle of 'community best.' We are divided by nothing & united by sport. There is a live music concert, flea market, food stalls, and performances. The event is pure community energy on display."

The concept of The Village has originated from the fact that The Run is not just a run but a platform to bring different types of communities together. It's what makes The Run so unique, differentiating it from other traditional running events.

The Run will have three categories, and will kick start with the PRO-21 km run at 5:15 am followed by PASSION-10 km run at 5:45 am, PRIDE-5 km run at 6:00 am and finally The Seniors & Juniors-2.5 km run, which will begin at 6:30 am. All the runs will be followed by refreshments and prize distribution for the winners. The day will also witness various fun activities including band performance, music, flea market at The Village, which will be open to all from 10 am to noon.

Detailed agenda of 'The Run'

5:15 am - Event Kick off with Pro21 km

5:45 am -Passion10 Km kick off

6:00 am -Pride 5 Km kick off

6:30 am- 2.5 Km kick off

7:00 am -Breakfast open for the runners

8:00 am -08:30 am- prize distribution for top runners

7:30 am onwards - 'The Village' community event; music concert, performances, food stalls and flea market
