EAU CLAIRE, Wis., March 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SMARTcare Software, inc. is supporting the fight against the novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic for home care releasing a full surveillance tool set of functionality for helping home care providers monitor, manage exposure risk, and improve safety as they provide care to seniors and individuals with special healthcare needs or activities of daily living (ADLs) support at home. In response to the advancement of the novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide and now spreading around the US, SMARTcare's development team quickly enabled functionality to provide needed support to home care agencies as they prepare and implement safety protocols for caregivers, patients and clients.

"COVID-19 outbreak is having a significant impact on the home care community, caregivers, and the patients under their care" said Scott Zielski, CEO of SMARTcare Software. "Our advanced development team and leadership quickly reached out to our customers and industry experts to understand which tools and functionality were needed to better prepare for and respond to the outbreak as it advances. In addition to learning their needs, we were pleased to learn how customers were already using the SMARTcare Platform to support their preparations in readying their operations to manage exposure risk during the pandemic."

SMARTcare's digital home care platform already had features to support home care provider's preparations in readying their operations to deal with this outbreak. Right away, providers started using SMARTcare's platform to identify highest risk seniors and caregivers. The SMARTcare system also supports flagging clients or caregivers who required self-isolation, were symptomatic, were awaiting test results, or had tested positive. Home care providers have also leveraged SMARTcare's HIPAA compliant messaging, available via the SMARTcare App, to engage caregivers, clients and their families with regular updates. "We were humbled as we confirmed SMARTcare could really help home care providers prepare for and manage the outbreak; but we wanted to do more" explains Zielski. "We quickly took the feedback from our customers and the information being provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to quickly add functionality to help further support our customers and the home care community as they battle against coronavirus."

This week SMARTcare released COVID-19 Surveillance Tool Set that users of our home care platform can easily enable with a "one click". The added functionality includes safety checks right at the SMARTcare app level when caregivers start shifts, automated reminders and agency specific protocol notifications. The system also added automated agency leadership alerts if clients or caregivers indicate a positive response during symptom checks to prompt the activation of the appropriate emergency protocols. Because SMARTcare's home care software platform is a digital cloud solution it allowed the immediate rollout of the COVID-19 Surveillance tool set functionality to all customers immediately as it was released. Today, all of our customers have access to the SMARTcare's COVID-19 functionality. In addition, the SMARTcare development team is already working on additional requests to advance the fight on COVID-19 in the home care industry.

"When I consider the impact that COVID-19 is having on our company, our communities and our nation, in the face of the uncertainty, fear and challenge the crisis certainly presents, I find solace in our mission. SMARTcare was founded on the notion that we have a duty to our parents, grandparents and all members of older generations to ensure that they age with dignity with access to healthcare that meets their needs, provides comfort, convenience, safety, and the best experience possible. Our mission is the foundation of everything that we do at SMARTcare. As we face the challenges that COVID-19 presents us, the entire SMARTcare team is working to support our customers, seniors and individuals requiring home care to overcome this adversity. We are doing everything we can to provide the best solutions for home care and to help keep our providers and the clients and families they serve safe and healthy" said Zielski."
