New network will connect independent pharmacy owners with local patients who want an easier way to take their medications.

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- RxSafe, LLC today announced the launch of PakMyMeds™ Network, a no-hassle

solution to connect independent pharmacy owners with local patients who want an easier way to take their medications. Using sophisticated online and mobile ad networks, social media, geotargeting and geofencing, PakMyMeds Network will advertise -- in a 50-mile circle around participating pharmacies -- to patients who could benefit from improved medication adherence and/or are searching for adherence packaging services. Patients who opt-in will then be connected with a partner pharmacy in the PakMyMeds Network.

"For the first time, independent pharmacies that offer RapidPakRx-enabled strip packaging services to their patients will be able to cast a wider net in promoting their adherence programs, with virtually no effort on their part," says William Holmes, President & CEO of RxSafe. "On the patient side, people with chronic conditions – or their caregivers – who are having trouble with easily and safely organizing multiple medications, will have a new, local alternative to distant mail-order pharmacies."

Patients who sign up via PakMyMeds.com can find a local pharmacy offering to neatly package their daily medications into an attractive box. Each PakMyMeds box can accommodate a month's supply of pre-sorted medications, organized into clearly labeled pouches, one for each medication administration time, or med pass. Making patients' drug regimens easier to manage has been shown to improve medication adherence, and ultimately improves patient health outcomes. Medication non-adherence leads to 125,000 preventable deaths and more than $300 billion in avoidable healthcare costs in the U.S. each year, according to the Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy.

"Mail-order pharmacy has been around for decades, but experience has taught us that most patients prefer local pharmacies," says Holmes. "PakMyMeds enables patients to keep the personal relationship, rapport and trust they already enjoy with their local pharmacist. In addition, patients who opt-in to the PakMyMeds Network can receive all the benefits of adherence packaging, while avoiding some of mail-order pharmacy's many drawbacks, including insecurity of delivery, delays/damage/hassles with mail, and extreme temperatures that sometimes occur in transporting prescriptions, which may compromise medication efficacy."

For a limited time, entry into the PakMyMeds Network is free for all pharmacies that purchase a RapidPakRx adherence strip packaging system. RapidPakRx is the first-ever system for adherence packaging designed specifically for retail pharmacies to fill a 30-day med cycle at the lowest possible cost. The system runs "smart," bulk-loaded universal cartridges that dispense all oral solid medications such as gel caps, half tabs, new generics, even OTC supplements—without calibration.

"Since we bought the RapidPakRx, our patients are so much more adherent … we don't have the troubles that we used to with people coming in and getting their medications on time," says Trey Crawford, pharmacist and owner of Diket's Professional Drugs in Laurel, Miss. "As far as how this packaging has impacted our patient population, all we get are compliments on it. I could give you example after example of people coming in and saying, 'I don't know how we made it this long without it,' and that's the truth. This just makes it so much easier."

RxSafe is making the PakMyMeds Network announcement in conjunction with the Pharmacy Development Services (PDS) Super-Conference, which takes place Feb. 21-23 in Orlando. The conference annually draws nearly 2,000 pharmacy owners, entrepreneurs and industry luminaries, and this year features celebrities and educators such as quarterback Peyton Manning and bestselling author Dr. Robert Cialdini. RxSafe was recently named a PDS Strategic Partner.

"RxSafe is honored and humbled to have been selected as a PDS Strategic Partner," says Holmes. "We're especially excited to participate in the Super-Conference this year, and to launch PakMyMeds Network, our latest effort to help bolster the viability, and profitability, of independent pharmacies."
