HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After two years of sold-out Rock to Recovery concerts, The
The Rock to Recovery ICON and Service Awards are given each year to public figures known far and wide, who use their power to influence great masses of people. The awards specifically honor those who have battled addiction to overcome in an industry full of challenges. In doing so, and by sharing their experience while accepting the award, they also give great hope to others. Tommy Vext is being honored with the Service Award for his outstanding influence and dedication in helping others in addiction treatment. Vext's band, Bad Wolves, has most recently gained impressive global notoriety with the tribute cover of The Cranberries' 1993 protest song "Zombie."
Former KORN and HED P.E. guitarist Wesley Geer founded Rock to Recovery on December 12, 2012, in an effort to give non-musicians access to the magic, healing powers of playing music, and advance the use of music expression groups in various treatment settings. Sessions are provided at The Canyon and surrounding Foundations Recovery Network treatment programs in California. In each session, program participants form a band, write a song together and record their work, offering an uplifting therapeutic release to patients recovering from PTSD, alcoholism, drug addiction, depression, cancer and more. The experience organically helps improve body/brain chemistry by stimulating the natural release of serotonin, dopamine, endorphins and oxytocin.
"We have the joys of witnessing our patients collaborating with the Rock to Recovery team and seeing the healing that comes from finding one's voice through music," said Kathleen Bigsby, CEO of The Canyon at Peace Park. "We are once again honored to present the third annual Rock to Recovery event celebrating music and recovery."
The concert will be held at the historic Fonda Theatre in Hollywood at 8 pm on September 15. For ticket information, visit Fondatheatre.com or AXS.com.
