OMAHA, Neb., April 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, leading in-home care franchise Right at Home is proud to announce that Bonnie Croom has been named this year's recipient of its National Caregiver of the Year award. Croom has been a member of the Right at Home family for six years, working as a caregiver in Reno, Nevada, for franchisees Mark and Elaine Wimbush. Her passion for her work is evident in her daily interactions with her clients and their families and her colleagues alike, positively impacting all with whom she interacts. Her kind disposition and selflessness truly embody Right at Home's mission "to improve the quality of life for those we serve," making her more than deserving of this esteemed recognition.

"Bonnie lives out our belief to provide the Right Care for the Right Reasons in the Right Way," said Mike Flair, Vice President of Franchise Business Solutions at Right at Home. "She is the Right Person in her role, and we couldn't be luckier to have her as a valued caregiver."

Right at Home caregivers are nominated for the award by Right at Home franchisees. Caregivers are selected by an independent group of professionals in the healthcare industry based on the following criteria: character, client impact, brand ambassadorship, team spirit and professional development. Croom's unwavering commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care is awe-inspiring, and her ability to form meaningful connections has bettered the lives of many clients and their families.

"I thought my standard of care for my grandmother was extremely high, but then, I met Bonnie," said Karin Hockman, granddaughter of one of Croom's clients, Alyce. "Bonnie took things that I had established and made them better, more efficient, more excellent — always going above and beyond the call of duty and raising the level of Alyce's care to a higher standard. She honored my grandmother just like I did. Bonnie loved her with care and sensitivity, patience and kindness. Bonnie brightened up our world immensely with her cheery smile and optimism."

Glowing reviews of Croom's caregiving, like that of Hockman's review, are abundant. Another one of Croom's clients, Dr. Craig Karrasch, echoed a similar sentiment when recounting Croom's care for his mother, Nina.

"Bonnie reduced my stress and prolonged my mother's life with love and care, giving us that much more time with her," Karrasch said. "Bonnie is the 'poster child' for Right at Home, the face of the franchise, and the instrument used whenever I have referred Right at Home to others."

In addition to honoring Croom on a national scale, Right at Home recognized four caregivers at the regional level for their outstanding commitment to their clients. This year's Region Caregivers of the Year are:

  • West Region Caregiver of the Year: Selene Montez of Palm Desert, California (franchisees Elaine and Dan Fox)
  • Central Region Caregiver of the Year: Junica "Nissy" Campbell of Omaha, Nebraska (franchisee Kristi Benning)
  • Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year: David Alan of Wakefield-Melrose, Massachusetts (franchisees Rosaleen Doherty and Jay Kenney)
  • Southeast Region Caregiver of the Year: Teresa Shelton of Knoxville, Tennessee (franchisee Joy Wilson)
Going the extra mile to provide exceptional care for those in need of at-home assistance often comes down to the everyday little things. Right at Home is proud to recognize the exemplary caregivers within its system whose purpose-driven work betters the lives of those they are entrusted to serve.
