PORTLAND, Ore., June 16 As part of its Latino outreach efforts, Regence BlueCross BlueShield has launched a new company website in Spanish at www.regence.com/espanol.
The site features articles about health and wellness issues important to the Latino community, insurance benefit information, Regence programs and resources, and information about Regence's Latino Hero Award program. Contact information for Regence's Consejeros (concierges), bilingual and bicultural representatives who offer customer service and support, is also available on the website.
"Launching a Spanish website is an extension of Regence's commitment to better serve the Latino community," said Francisco Garbayo, director of Regence's Latino outreach efforts. "The health disparities that exist in the Latino community are significant, and it's our goal to do whatever we can to address those disparities, remove barriers to care, and serve as a guide to Latinos navigating the health care system."
The Spanish website is the latest component of Regence's extensive campaign to help address Latino health disparities. Regence engages the Latino community to break down the linguistic and cultural barriers that make it difficult for many to understand the health insurance system in the U.S. Efforts include a Latino consejero (concierge) program, producing Spanish language health education radio and TV spots, launching a campaign honoring Latino community leaders, and designing health insurance products geared toward the Latino market.
