SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- AwesomeFloss.com's founder Leonard Lorch

has done it again after first discovering how to make it easier for many of us to slide floss between our teeth. As the person originally responsible for discovering that an ePTFE weaving fiber, when used as a flossing substrate, glides between teeth,
Lorch's next innovation makes it even easier to floss and is breath-freshening too, as patented today.

The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office yesterday issued Patent 10,206,765 on a redefinition of dental floss by the sole inventor Leonard Lorch. Lorch was formerly responsible for U.S. Patent 4,776,358, a continuation-in-part of his U.S. Patent Application Number 06/910,733 that was filed on 9.23.1986, which was the world's first filed patent that specified, for the new purpose of a flossing substrate, expanded PTFE (ePTFE) fiber commercially available under the trademark GORE-TEX and, originally as a "weaving fiber," manufactured by W. L. Gore & Associates. Many readers will recognize ePTFE flosses glide between teeth because that's what Procter & Gamble's leading ORAL-B GLIDE flosses do that are so popular nowadays.

Fast forward to Lorch's current patent that, he said, "represents an easier and breath-freshening dental floss that works as shown on the site AwesomeFloss.com."

"This site shows the AWESOME FLOSS®er with its two turquoise symbols that represent fast dissolving mini-breath strips that enable the breath-freshening reward built into this floss upgrade," Lorch said. During flossing the AWESOME FLOSS®er further allows the dentist-recommended C-shape of the floss. "Since no regular string floss is as easy to use or breath-freshening," Lorch explained, "through licensing AWESOME FLOSS®ers are likely to upgrade if not cannibalize most of the world's regular string floss."

Lorch's U.S. Patent 10,206,765 describing in detail the new dental floss was published yesterday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Whoever said that substantially improving on regular string dental floss is boring, not fun or not likely to be more rewarding than discovering that floss can glide between teeth for miles of smiles.
