"We are looking forward to implementing the ProgenyHealth Program because of the value that it will bring to the medically fragile pediatric members of Family Health Network," said Dr. Robert Kritzler, Chief Medical Officer of Family Health Network. "The NICU experts at ProgenyHealth will be outstanding resources to the families of infants who have stays in our hospitals' NICUs.  Moreover, the ProgenyHealth collaboration aligns with our Triple Aim goals – enhancing the experience of care for our NICU patients and their families, improving the clinical outcomes of our neonatal population, and reducing the per capita cost of care."

"We are thrilled to extend our member-centered, quality-driven, model of care to help improve the health and lives of premature and medically complex newborns in Illinois through our partnership with Family Health Network," said Dr. Ellen Stang, President and CEO of ProgenyHealth.

ProgenyHealth's neonatologists, NICU nurses, pediatric nurses, and social workers work collaboratively with providers to ensure health care services follow evidence-based best practices and are medically necessary.  ProgenyHealth reduces costly variations in the NICU by standardizing care practices and bringing parents into the conversation so they can be engaged participants in the health care decision making process of their newborns.

"Our team of nurse case managers and social workers develop a trusting relationship with the families that begins in the NICU," said Dr. Stang, "they assist with the safe transition home and empower parents so they can be actively involved in their infant's care and be better equipped to meet the needs of their child.  Our high-touch program has demonstrated that when you have proactive conversations with the medical providers and the families of newborns in the NICU, quality increases, health outcomes improve, and costs naturally decrease."
