APPLETON, Wis., April 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A long-time presenter at the annual LBG Advisors Benefits Symposium, Tom Doney of Cypress Benefit Administrators has been invited to share one of four "Super Sessions" at the 2019 event in April.

Doney, the president and CEO of Cypress, a Lucent Health company, will present "Lessons Learned: What We Know About the Effort to Control Health Costs, the Opportunities that Work and How the Government is Involved" on April 24 in Las Vegas.

In this timely, information-filled session, he'll cover the wave of cost containment programs – from reference-based pricing (RBP) to cancer management and patient decision support – that have entered the market over the last several years with the aim to help health plans save money. Doney will explain which solutions his clients are having success with and the kind of results they've had in reducing plan costs. He'll also touch on the current health care debates occurring across the country and discuss the challenges that lie ahead for employers as the costs of care keep going up.

"As health plans must continue to adapt to rising care costs, it's extremely helpful for employers to hear about the real-world results being achieved with cost containment programs," Doney said. "Having a sense of what's working and what's not helps companies decide where to focus their efforts in implementing the appropriate benefit solutions."

Doney brings a unique perspective to the topic of cost containment as Cypress has been able to limit annual health plan cost increases for its clients to an average of just 1.44% in the last six years as compared to 6.2% nationally. In 2017, Cypress's average plan increase was only .69%.

The LBG Advisors Benefits Symposium will run from April 24-26 at the Bellagio. Opening with a keynote session on the impact of innovation and technology in benefits and four Super Sessions to follow, the Symposium will cover a wide range of topics over three days, including:

  • Specialty drugs and copay assistance
  • Establishing a healthcare trust
  • Going back to the basics of healthcare
  • The evolution of RBP
  • Personalized medicine for employees
  • Online enrollment
  • HSAs and retirement
  • Transparency and outpatient medical tourism
  • Member engagement
  • Risk management with self-funding
"This conference has really evolved into one that shares the pulse of what's happening in the world of employee benefits," said Jason Jakobsen, senior benefits consultant with LBG Advisors. "With such a strong line-up of presenters and sessions this year, we're excited to introduce attendees to the latest benefits innovations, tools and strategies."
