A spokesperson from PhytAge laboratories announced, "We are pleased to support and raise awareness to the charitable involvement of ASU's Occupational Therapy students in Uganda."
In the recent four years, ASU students have traveled to the Home of Hope orphanage in Uganda to provide occupational therapy to the children housed in the facility. PhytAge Laboratories, recognizing the necessity of supporting those who care for the forgotten children of Uganda, relayed their desire to ensure that the children of orphanages around the world are not forgotten and receive the medical care and treatment they need to survive. The PhytAge Laboratories spokesperson continued, "The students' efforts to provide much needed occupational treatment therapy to 60-plus children has been a blessing for the orphanage. PhytAge Laboratories is committed to expanding the reach and awareness of orphanages around the globe."
On July, 29, 2018, the Alabama NewsCenter published the article titled, "Alabama State Students Conduct Needed Therapy for Uganda's Forgotten Orphans." The articled revealed that for the past four years, Alabama State University's Occupational Therapy students have traveled to the Home of Hope orphanage in Jinja, Uganda. The students travel the great distance to give treatment to children who may not otherwise have access to such medical care. The students have administered hands-on occupational therapy treatment to over 60 children housed in the Home of Hope facility. The students work to find creative solutions to the lack of cutting-edge equipment and modern technology as they provide treatment to the orphans of Jinja.
Many orphans suffer conditions like sickle cell anemia, autism, cerebral palsy, and other development illnesses. The ASU occupational therapy that the students administer are key in aiding the children as they try to survive life in the orphanage with their conditions and illnesses. Without the contribution and dedication of people like the students of ASU's Occupational Therapy program, many of these children would go on untreated.
The spokesperson of PhytAge Laboratories concluded, "With over 153 million orphans worldwide, it has now become more important than ever to bring awareness to the millions of children who lack the care and attention necessary for healthy development. Many of these forgotten children are at risk of ongoing disease and even death. By committing to raise awareness about the infirm and destitute orphans and orphanages around the world, we can begin bridge the gap between the disabilities the children of these orphanages suffer and the medical care they so desperately need."
