Dr Meenakshi SharmaSenior Consultant, Laparoscopic Surgery and Senior Member of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES) took the lead in organizing the event at Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon. According to Dr Meenakshi, "Today we are not just short of trained doctors, in fact we are facing an acute shortage of specialized talent. Workshops such as these organized in a hospital and with support of reputed doctor associations, help us to bridge the gap. The aim of IAGES and Paras Healthcare at many levels is to provide accessibility and quality. We are thankful to the management of Paras Healthcare that supported the endeavour and ensured that the workshop is a success."

FIAGES is the certified fellowship of the IAGES. The aim of such fellowships is to maintain high standards in the field of endoscopic surgery. In the era of advancement in laparoscopic surgery, surgeons consider it advisable and preferable to have an accreditation from a National/International body of laparoscopic surgeons. This advanced workshop imparted skill-training to surgeons which will result in significant progress in medical treatments. FIAGES was a three-day fellowship program which included educational programs and training to surgeons.

Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, Facility Director, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon shared, "This is one of the most important and popular fellowships program for upcoming surgeons. Such workshops give them a platform and a place to ask questions freely and share their difficulties that they face during practice, apart from learning required skill-sets from the experience of experts in the field. The Fellowship of the IAGES is unique since it takes into consideration the seniority and contributions of surgeons, and at the same time, assesses the involvement of the young surgeons with an examination after a structured course. We at Paras appreciate such initiatives and it shall be our constant endeavour to be a part of such events that can skill people and help in improving the aspects of quality and accessibility."

The Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES), founded in 1993, has spread its roots to all corners of the country. This vibrant organization, with a membership of around 5000 surgeons, is truly a representative of the vast endo surgeon base in the country. IAGES is continuously engaged in fulfilling its mission and vision to advance endo-surgery throughout the country.

FIAGES conducted a three-day certification fellowship course at Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon. The training involved lectures by renowned laparoscopic surgeons, hands-on training on endo-trainers, examinations, certifications, live workshops, video presentations, and open house sessions. Participants were given ample time on endo-trainers under the close guidance and supervision of the faculty to improve their hand-eye coordination by structured exercises. The course culminated with written and viva exams, along with an endo-trainer session.
