An Industry-First Campaign to Educate Tour Players & Fans on Prevention and Treatment of Sun Damage Including Fraxel's re:store Laser Technology

HAYWARD, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Solta Medical, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLTM), a global leader in the medical aesthetics

market and manufacturer of the industry's three premier brands: Thermage®, Fraxel®, and Isolaz®, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with PGA TOUR golfer Scott McCarron to raise awareness about skin protection and the Fraxel re:store® laser treatment.  As the leader in fractional laser technology, Fraxel delivers minimally invasive clinical solutions to resurface aging and sun damaged skin, including the removal of actinic keratoses (AK's) – a precancerous skin condition caused by sun exposure.  Fraxel re:store treatment provides superior results for AKs on the face or other areas of the body displaying the signs of photodamage.

Like most golfers, McCarron spends countless hours outside on the course and over the years has developed sun damage on his face and neck. McCarron has used various methods of treatment to address his sun damage and AK's and recently experienced a Fraxel procedure for the first time.

"I tried the Fraxel treatment and have seen amazing results with a significant reversal of sun damage and potential AK's," said Scott McCarron. "It is so important to protect your skin from sun damage and potentially skin cancer.  Unfortunately there are many people, like myself, that will be inflicted with sun damage so by teaming up with the Fraxel brand, I hope to educate Tour golfers, caddies and fans about the importance of skin screening as well as using proper sun protection - on and off the course."

"Solta Medical is fully committed to supporting skin cancer awareness and through our partnership with McCarron, we have the opportunity to reach a larger audience and those directly affected by the sun's harmful rays," said Stephen J. Fanning, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Solta Medical, Inc. "Solta Medical is committed to developing innovative, safe, and effective anti-aging solutions, like Fraxel, that allow our physicians to provide superior treatments that enhance and protect the lives of their patients."

Last year, more than 1 million people were diagnosed with skin cancer in the Unites States.  However, skin cancer is the most curable form of cancer and also the most preventable.  Also as part of the campaign, Fraxel is providing onsite skin education and screenings at PGA TOUR events this summer, conducted out of its state-of-the-art Airstream treatment center. Most recently, Fraxel attended the Reno-Tahoe Open in mid-July and the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Vernona, New York on August 2-4.
