MONTCLAIR, N.J., April 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- PAINWeekEnd on April 27 at the Hilton Austin, 500 E 4th St, in Texas, will be a timely full day program providing busy clinicians and allied healthcare practitioners with 6.0 hours of relevant, practical instruction in the management of chronic pain.
In September 2018, the Texas State Board of Pharmacy began issuing revised prescription forms with enhanced security features that include control numbers which must be reported in the record with every Schedule II prescription, and various printing enhancements designed to validate authenticity and prevent copying. The new forms will become mandatory for prescribers starting June 1 of this year. In addition, prescribers have until September 1 to establish an account on PMP Aware, the state's prescription drug monitoring program. As regulatory efforts continue to steer patients and practitioners away from opioid therapy for pain, there has been a corresponding increase in interest in other treatment modalities, including nonopioid analgesics.
At PAINWeekEnd Austin, Thomas Gregory, PharmD, BCPS, FASPE, CPE, will present his course Nonopioid Analgesics, Adjuvants, and Antidepressants, about which he commented, "Nonopioid analgesics are often considered firstline therapy for most chronic pain syndromes, and it's important for pain practitioners to have a strong recognition of these agents' mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity profiles.
