PA Health Secretary to Host Forum to Discuss Statewide Initiatives Aimed at Improving Childhood Nutrition

National Public Health Week is April 5-11

In recognition of National Public Health Week, Secretary of Health Everette James will host a community forum at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at the Owen J. Roberts High School in the Large Group Instruction Room, 881 Ridge Rd., Pottstown. James will also announce American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds received by the Department of Health for prevention and wellness.

Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding will join James to talk with invited parents, students, and school officials about ongoing and future, statewide efforts to improve the health of Pennsylvania's children, including the Department of Health's Active Schools program and the Department of Agriculture's Healthy Farms and Healthy Schools Program.

The event will include photo opportunities of the secretaries taking part in physical activity with the students and touring the school's garden.
