WESTPORT, Conn., June 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OneDX®, the software platform that enables physicians to view and exchangepatient images securely from any Internet browser or mobile device, and Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI), with facilities located throughout Nevada, will participate in a poster presentation during the SIIM
The poster, titled, The Role of the Patient and Images, will be presented by SDMI's Rachel V. Papka, MHAI and OneDX Founder, Kayo Olufowobi.
Traditionally, patients requesting images have been met with some resistance from healthcare professionals, claiming the patient would not understand what they saw. Yet, patients continue to ask for them. Many image centers require patients to visit the office and pick up a CD, which can sometimes be a difficult task due to patient work schedules or lack of transportation.
SDMI and OneDX partnered to provide a patient portal where patients would have easy access to their images and records. A live demo of the OneDX image-enabled portal will be available at the Scientific Posters & Demonstrations Display.
"Too often, new technology can be seen as a burden," says OneDX President and CEO Kayo Olufowobi. "But our image-enabled patient portal which delivers thousands of cases daily showed a wide acceptance and enhancing the patient-physician experience. At the end-of-the-day, it empowers the patient to take a more-active role in their healthcare decisions or those of a loved-one."
Results from a survey of a random number of patients revealed that over 90% of patients say that they would like access to their images and records and more than 90% claimed that having access to these records would make them take a more active role in their medical care.
Moreover, ten out of fourteen executives believe their patients should have electronic access to their images.
