OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Drs. Robert Bryan and Jeremy Goodson of Oral Surgery Specialists of Oklahoma will give another Oklahoma City area resident a reason to smile. The second annual Second Chance program launched today, providing one deserving candidate with full-arch restoration treatment, a procedure typically costing $50,000, completely free of charge.
Full-arch restoration treatment replaces the top and bottom arches of teeth with implant-supported dentures. This unique treatment works to provide a permanent solution for decayed, broken, and missing teeth. Last year, the practice saw over 1,600 applications from local residents who desperately needed a second chance at a healthy smile and a boost of confidence. Last year's candidates shared their heart-breaking stories of genetic disorders, abuse, accidents, and more that contributed to their oral health condition.
No one knows how truly life-changing the Second Chance program is more than last year's recipient, Ashley Sorrels. At only 19 years old, Ashley's oral health started to significantly decline and got worse during each of her pregnancies. She is a special education teacher and a foster parent for children in emergency situations and is always putting others' needs in front of her own. She felt embarrassed to speak with her students' parents and other teachers because of her smile. Since her treatment, not only did her smile transform, but her whole outlook on life changed. She now feels confident about herself again.
"After seeing the need for this opportunity in the community, we knew we had to make this an annual initiative," Dr. Goodson said. "The Second Chance program is so much more than giving someone in the community a brand-new smile. A new healthy smile can positively impact a person's self-confidence and overall quality of life, and we can't wait to start this journey with another deserving recipient."
Oral Surgery Specialists of Oklahoma will partner with restorative dentist Dr. Michael Fling, Paragon Esthetics Lab, and Nobel Biocare Dental Implant Company to give the recipient the smile they deserve.
The application period for the Second Chance program opened September 24 and will run until October 24. The program is offered to residents in the Oklahoma City area.
