Local, same-day, free delivery pharmacy shows appreciation for community with free health screenings, free pharmacist consultations, free health packs and more - at San Jose Jazz Festival, Sunnyvale Music series and other local events

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- NowRx, Mountain View,

Burlingame and San Jose's free, same-day delivery, local pharmacy today launched 'Be Healthy Now,' a campaign of free wellness services for local communities. The campaign, which will extend into the fall, includes free health screenings, free 'Ask a Pharmacist' consultations, VISA gift cards, delivery of three months of a NowRx health pack for free, and more.

NowRx, which launched its services in 2016, is accessible by phone, text or through its easy-to-use mobile app. NowRx is the only local pharmacy to offer free, door-to-door, same-day, hand delivery of all prescriptions through a fleet of friendly drivers using electric environmentally friendly cars. NowRx's pharmacies are fully-licensed, equipped with robotics and other leading-edge, pharma-efficiency technology. The pharmacy is staffed with a top-notch team of certified pharmacists, who are always available for customer consultations by phone (after no more than two rings) or instant video chat.

"We are so grateful that the local community has embraced NowRx's better pharmacy experience, which eliminates the hassle of waiting in pharmacy lines and expedites access to prescription medications," said Cary Breese, CEO of NowRx. "We wanted to give back to our community, so we established the 'Be Healthy Now' campaign, which will deploy our team of pharmacists to key local events to offer free health screenings, free consultations and three-month delivery of free health packs."

The San Jose Jazz Festival(August 9th – 11th) and the Sunnyvale Music Series (August 14th and 21st) are the first of NowRx's 'Be Healthy Now' events, with more to be announced. At each event, NowRx will be offering free health packs, which include Emergencee, Tylenol and Multi-Vitamins; free medication consultations, and health screenings, which include blood pressure, BMI and heart rate analysis.

In addition, as part of 'Be Healthy Now,' NowRx has set up a confidential, toll-free 'Ask a Pharmacist' hotline (844-GO-NOWRX) that anyone can call for instant medication consultations, whether or not the caller is a NowRx customer. Juggling multiple medications and/or understanding instructions can be confusing: in fact, according to the American Heart Association, 'three out of four Americans do not take their medication as directed.'(1) 'Ask a Pharmacist' is designed to help that problem.

Breese added that, in the months to come, NowRx will support local blood drives, medication delivery to seniors and others who are confined to the home, along with other events.

"Around thirty percent of medication prescriptions go unfilled, and many more medications are not taken as prescribed. So, making access to prescriptions fast, hassle-free and door-to-door is not just about convenience, but very much about health and avoidable hospitalizations which cost the health system approximately $290 Billion each year,(2)" continued Breese. "Whether you are a busy mom or dad, an at-home senior or a millennial working 24/7 at a startup, NowRx's mission is to improve your wellness through easier access to prescription medication and enhanced prescription adherence."

Unlike mail-based services that keep consumers waiting for their medications - and that are prohibited from delivering medications that need special care (refrigeration, etc.) - NowRx's fleet of drivers, its mobile app and its local, state-of-the-art pharmacy fulfillment center, enable rapid, free, same-day, hand delivery of all medications. And, unlike those mail-based services, NowRx's local licensed pharmacists are only a phone call or video chat away. NowRx drivers are NowRx employees with safe driver training, background checks and training in health care privacy laws.

NowRx works just like a regular local pharmacy, but without all the hassle; accepts all major insurance and has the same co-payments as a traditional pharmacy. For new prescriptions, consumers simply instruct their doctors to send prescriptions directly to NowRx pharmacy for same day delivery; for existing prescriptions, call or text NowRx pharmacy directly for same day delivery: 650-499-3000. Download the NowRx app for iOS devices or for Android devices here.

Since launching, NowRx has filled over 100,000 prescriptions, served more than 17,000 customers, and has received prescriptions from more than 2,000 prescribing physicians. Currently available in the peninsula and south bay areas, NowRx will be launching in other California locations in the fall.
