National Association for Female Executives recognizes Northwestern Memorial HealthCare for its commitment to the development of female leaders for 9th consecutive year

CHICAGO, Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) has named Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC) among the Top 10 Nonprofits for Executive Women for the ninth consecutive year. The list recognizes organizations that have established policies to encourage women's advancement and follow practices that demonstrate that commitment.

At NMHC, 70 percent of managers are women and 80 percent of the total workforce is women. The organization focuses on promoting internal talent and nearly doubled tuition assistance provided in fiscal year 2016, while also making an additional investment in professional development opportunities for members of workforce. Other programs and benefits at NMHC include networking opportunities, on-site childcare and flexible scheduling.

To be considered for the NAFE list, companies must have a minimum of two women on their board of directors as well as at least 1,000 employees. Criteria reviewed during the application process include female representation, hiring, attrition and promotion rates and advancement programs. Special attention is also paid to women at the highest ranks and those with profit-and-loss responsibility. Founded in 1972, NAFE serves 20,000 members nationwide with networking, tools and solutions to strengthen and grow their careers and businesses. Working Mother magazine publishes the annual NAFE Top Companies list.
