Healthcare Diversity Council to Recognize Traylor at Upcoming Summit

HOUSTON, Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Chief Medical Officer of Next Level Urgent Care, LLC, Robbyn Traylor, MD, is named among the Texas Healthcare Diversity Council's Top 25 Women in Healthcare 2019. The council will present Traylor with the prestigious award at the upcoming Healthcare Diversity Summit to be held in Houston late February.

A sixth generation Texan and native Houstonian, who has served as a panelist and mentor on the diversity council for several years, Traylor was the only African American in her graduating class of nearly 200 students when she received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2005.

She joined Next Level Urgent Care in 2014 after gaining valuable experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, hospital medicine and primary care. She was quickly promoted to Medical Director and then Chief Medical Officer of what is now the largest urgent care provider in the city – hiring, training and supervising a diverse team of more than 80 physicians and advanced practice providers.

"I am surprised and honored that they would even consider me for this award. There are many professionals who do what they do because they love it and not because there are opportunities to be recognized. I count myself as one of those and am truly humbled to receive this accolade," said Traylor.

Traylor said that she watched her mother serve as a nurse executive at Ben Taub Hospital her entire life without an opportunity for such recognition – and while she herself would never seek such, she believes it is important for other young people, particularly young women of color, to see someone just like them not only function, but excel and be recognized in their executive positions.

"It's really more than an award for me. It's about showing other young women and other executives what can be achieved when you hire people with different life experiences and perspectives. It can strengthen the value of your company. Recognition is good for everyone at every level," said Traylor.

According to Next Level Urgent Care founder and CEO Juliet Breeze, MD, no one is more deserving of this award than Traylor, attributing the continued growth and success of the company to the professionalism, conviction, optimism and enthusiasm of Traylor and the team that they have been able to assemble.

"You can have a vision and a clear path to get there, but to be truly successful you need an exemplary team that shares that vision. Dr. Traylor personifies that. We couldn't be more proud of her many accomplishments and this recognition by the Texas Healthcare Diversity Council," said Breeze.

Traylor graduated with honors from I.H. Kempner High School, before attending Prairie View A&M University, where she earned Magna Cum Laude honors in 2000 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After obtaining her medical degree, she served her residency at the University of Kansas Wesley Family Medicine program in Wichita. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is currently recognized as a Diplomate.

She is a certified Designated Doctor for the Texas Division of Workers Compensation and is a proud member of women-focused groups like the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce 2018-2019 Thought Leaders class, IGNITE Healthcare Network and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Traylor resides in Richmond, Texas with her husband and two daughters whom she considers to be her greatest accomplishment.
