Home-Based Treatment for Dizziness, Vertigo and Imbalance Now Available for Patients Who Live Remotely Newport-Mesa Audiology Balance & Ear Institute (the Institute) has developed a new technologically-advanced, patent pending virtual reality (VR) System for the Treatment of Vestibular Dysfunction, which provides home-based treatment for patients with dizziness, vertigo and imbalance.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Newport-Mesa Audiology Balance & Ear Institute (the Institute)

has developed a new technologically-advanced, patent pending virtual reality (VR) System for the Treatment of Vestibular Dysfunction, which provides home-based treatment for patients with dizziness, vertigo and imbalance. Part of the Institute's proprietary method of treatment called Advanced Vestibular Treatment™ (AVT), the Institute has been researching and developing this new home-based VR treatment system for several years.

This new AVT/VR system benefits patients who live a distance away from the clinic and suffer from vestibular dysfunction, which is a leading cause of dizziness, vertigo and imbalance. The Institute's Doctors of Audiology can monitor patient progress and adjust treatment prescriptions remotely. The established protocols and treatment delivery system are an effective option to treat vestibular related balance issues to help restore patients to the activity levels they had prior to the onset of their symptoms.

The AVT/VR System consists of several key components: self-contained VR Goggle System, AVT patient portal and corresponding mobile phone application with customized visual treatment stimuli. Home-based treatment includes regular phone and online appointments with an assigned Doctor of Audiology and a dedicated Concierge Care support program. Various contract options are available for patients to choose from, including two starter plans and three maintenance plan options.

To begin home-based treatment, patients undergo a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and if vestibular dysfunction is diagnosed, a recommendation for treatment is prescribed by one of the Institute's Doctors of Audiology. Patients then enter their chosen treatment plan with accompanying Concierge Care. Patients will be overseen by their Doctor of Audiology and will have regular appointments with them to evaluate progress. The AVT System is used in conjunction with the VR Goggle System, which is available for purchase or lease. At the end of the treatment year, there is an option for extension if deemed necessary.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer this method of treatment to our patients who don't live near our Institute, or who need ongoing maintenance of their vestibular dysfunction," said Dr. Howard Mango, CEO of Newport-Mesa Audiology Balance & Ear Institute. "We continue to find new ways to help people struggling with their dizzy symptoms and to give them newfound hope for lasting relief."
