PITTSTON, Pa., March 15 NewLife Homecare, a leading specialty pharmacy serving people with bleeding disorders, is proud to introduce an innovative and highly-customized nutrition program for the bleeding disorder community. The program, a patented clinical assessment tool that evaluates several key factors of a person's health--lifestyle, physical well-being, medical conditions and history, and medications--and then customizes a comprehensive nutritional regimen, is offered through NewLife's website, www.newlifehomecare.com. The technology, developed by ChronoMed for the general public, has been further enhanced for NewLife Homecare in order to reflect the specific needs of people living with bleeding disorders. As a company well-known for its holistic approach to bleeding disorders, NewLife Homecare sees ChronoMed's program as a natural extension of the service it provides.

"We have always emphasized the importance of focusing on the whole person and their lifestyle rather than simply addressing the complications associated with the disease as they occur," said NewLife Homecare's President and CEO, Gregory Malia. "This new program will allow our clients to benefit from a nutrition regimen in an entirely new way."

Tom Fourt, Vice President Sales and Marketing for ChronoMed, sees NewLife Homecare as the ideal company to offer this program exclusively to the bleeding disorder community. "NewLife's staff has a unique understanding of the needs of bleeding disorder patients," he said. "This, combined with their holistic, proactive approach, has resulted in an unparalleled level of service. As an integrative element to good health, ChronoMed is the perfect complement to this breadth of service."

A Program that Offers a New Level of Personalization

For NewLife's clients, the experience begins with a Healthstyle Risk Assessment, an online survey that speaks to the many complexities of hemophilia. The questions are organized into six categories: Personal Data, which covers allergies and family history along with insightful queries such as how many hours a person is exposed to the sun each day, seasonality, and where in the US a person lives to determine levels of vitamin D; Dietary Patterns, which measures the daily consumption of foods ranging from vegetables and fruits to products like artificial sweeteners; Lifestyle, a look at a person's smoking, drinking, and sleeping habits; Physical Wellbeing, which covers exercise, joint pain, immune system protection, and stress; Conditions, an evaluation of every medical condition, chronic and otherwise, that a person lives with; and Medications--extremely relevant for people with bleeding disorders, this category includes an extensive database of brand name and generic drugs.

Once the Healthstyle Risk Assessment is complete, patients are sent a personalized, clinically-driven nutrient recommendation, complete with doses and time-of-day instructions to maximize absorption. Malia, who lives with severe hemophilia, is quick to point out that the program's extremely high level of personalization makes it an invaluable tool for people living with bleeding disorders. "Given the technology's ability to consider how drugs interact with nutritional supplements, this program is particularly appropriate to our clients, people who take many medications every day just to manage their disease."

Dawn Litchey, NewLife Homecare's client advocate, is the mother of four sons with severe hemophilia. On NewLife's behalf, Litchey worked closely with ChronoMed to ensure the online assessment included the extremely wide range of drugs hemophiliacs need. "Our clients, and my own children, require drugs that, while life-saving, can also deplete their bodies of nutrients," she said. "By evaluating all the medications our clients are taking, we can ensure that the recommended nutrition plan is comprehensive enough to replenish all those nutrients and ultimately help prevent more serious systemic problems."

While NewLife Homecare's staff of pharmacists and patient advocates reviews every assessment, the company insists that clients consult with their physicians before taking any nutritional supplements. Once the client and doctor are on board, NewLife works with ChronoMed to coordinate delivery to clients' homes. To further simplify the process, supplements are shipped in daily use packs with clear instructions.

NewLife Homecare's collaboration with ChronoMed is part of its commitment to help its clients enhance their overall health and wellness with proactive measures. NewLife's clients have long considered the company a lifeline and invaluable resource. Now, with the help of ChronoMed's groundbreaking technology, NewLife has taken this commitment a step further.
