"While each state has its own unique challenges, NEBA continues to bring these industries together as a strong, unified group to help foster policy initiatives and protect the industry it serves."

One of the priorities for the coming year will focus on education of the next generation of biotech workers. Said Pescatello, " At this time of economic upheaval, it is crucial to engage and educate our kids in math and science, to help build and keep job opportunities in the biotech and biopharmaceutical industries throughout New England."

NEBA is a non-profit, member-driven organization comprised of state biotech associations, companies, academic institutions, and other organizations with a collective mission to support and grow the biotechnology industry in New England.

With more than 600 members NEBA's core mission is to ensure that New England remains and prospers as a leader in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries. NEBA members include the largest biotech associations in those states, including the Biotech Association of Maine, Connecticut United for Research Excellence (CURE), New Hampshire Bio/Medical Council, Rhode Island BioGroup, Massachusetts High Technology Council, and the Biotech Association of Vermont.
