NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In an effort to alleviate social isolation among older adults during what

many find to be particularly lonely time periods, DOROT has launched a series of Sunday and evening programs. The initiative was piloted last spring with a lineup of five dynamic events including concerts, author presentations and a technology workshop and was met with an enthusiastic response. Two attendees at the first event shared that the programs are a wonderful idea because "the weekend is so long."

The new initiative offers a wide array of cultural, educational and social events designed to appeal to a broad range of interests. The engaging lineup provides stimulating creative arts and intellectual enrichment opportunities. The programs also give participants an often much-needed chance to connect with peers as well as with people of all ages. Events take place twice a month and have so far included sing-alongs, book discussions and intergenerational programming.

"DOROT's new Sunday and Evening Programming initiative is proving to be a wonderful way of expanding DOROT's impact on alleviating social isolation among older adults, particularly those living alone," says Mark L. Meridy, Executive Director. "The dynamic events are not only providing an enjoyable afternoon or evening out but also an important opportunity for participants to socialize with one another."
