NCBAC, a national leader in Certification and training for eldercare, has announced a new certificate course entitled "Understanding Dementia". The course is for those who need a general understanding of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD). It is presented in a slide format, with explanations of many aspects of the disease, simple diagrams and voice narration.
The three Modules include: 1) Overview of Dementia, Alzheimers and related diseases, 2) Key factors in patient care including assessing patient behavior, common behavioral issues, Activities of Daily Living and issues related to independence and autonomy, 3) Patient's rights, safety issues and abuse and neglect.
Understanding Dementia will be available in June of this year.
Currently, NCBAC also offers Certifications including Certified Alzheimer Caregiver CAC, Certified Alzheirmer Educator, CAEd and Certified Relocaction Transition Specialist CRTS(tm).
