CHICAGO, Feb. 12 On March 1st, Insight Psychological Centers, LLC will open its new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for anxiety and mood disorders. Uncommon in the U.S. and virtually non-existent in Chicago, Insight's intensive program will be offered in the evenings and on weekends to help employees return to work, avoid taking disability leave, and continue participating in the tasks of everyday life. Maximizing convenience, Insight's new programs will allow more clients to participate in intensive treatment without disrupting work or school schedules.

Intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs are appropriate for individuals who could benefit from more structure and support than individual outpatient services alone. Also an option for clients stepping down from a higher level of care, such as a residential treatment or inpatient care, Insight's new programming fills a large service gap for clients who live or work near Chicago

Insight will offer at least four hours of treatment each day and meet three to four times each week. Examples of services include coping skills, medication management, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, family therapy, mood regulation, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and art & experiential therapies.

In the spring of 2006, Northwestern University faculty members Dr. Jenny Conviser and Dr. Susan McClanahan formed Insight Psychological Centers, LLC to provide psychotherapy services in Chicago. Since then, the staff has grown to a multidisciplinary team of 20 with a dedicated billing staff to help clients with insurance reimbursement. The facilities are contracted with BCBS and accept many other types of insurance.

The success and popularity of Insight's intensive eating disorders programming led Drs. McClanahan and Conviser to create similar options for clients with anxiety and mood disorders. Says Dr. McClanahan, "Intensive treatment works for eating disorders. We are relieved that people facing other challenges can finally get the intensive support they need too."
