LAS VEGAS, Nov. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Nevada 2-1-1, a program of Money Management International (MMI), has received the 2018 Resource Award from the CARE Coalition of Nevada. The CARE Coalition is a nonprofit organization committed to substance abuse prevention in Clark County, Nevada.
Nevada 2-1-1 was recognized for its contributions toward increasing public awareness of the effects of drug and alcohol abuse by providing education and support to the community at large, including drug prevention agencies. Nevada 2-1-1 provides information about vital health and human service programs that are available throughout the state. This includes information about basic needs, physical and mental health, financial stability, assistance for disabled or elderly persons, support for children and families, and support during disasters.
"The positive impact our 2-1-1 team has made throughout Nevada is evident not only by this award, but more importantly by the care, compassion, and support each call specialist has for the person on the other end of each incoming call," said Lisa Martin, Client Services Manager at MMI. "Our goal is to not only empower all Nevadans to achieve optimal self-sufficiency, health, and well-being, but to treat callers with unconditional dignity in their most vulnerable moments."
Since 2015, MMI (formerly Financial Guidance Center) has operated the 2-1-1 call center, pursuant to a contract with the State of Nevada. Nevada law requires maintenance of a statewide information and referral system. Administration and oversight of Nevada 2-1-1 is the responsibility of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services under Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 232.359.
