Dr. William May, an ophthalmologist at Wellish Vision Institute located in Las Vegas, Nevada, had the pleasure of performing a life-altering procedure on patient Ryan Hernandez, a radio personality with Magic Latino Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ryan Hernandez is a radio personality on the Magic Latino Las Vegas show,

and up until four years ago, he lived with nearly complete blindness. Hernandez had extreme eye trauma that left him with the use of only one of his eyes, and he was highly near-sighted in that eye as well. Over the years Hernandez has gone through multiple procedures in an attempt to repair his eye and was told by numerous ophthalmologists and optometrists that he would be completely blind by the age of 30. Many doctors told him it was too risky to perform surgery and that there would only be a 60% chance of performing a successful procedure.

Hernandez had ultimately lost all hope of restoring his vision until he met Dr. William May of Wellish Vision Institute in Las Vegas. Based on his extensive experience with other patients like Ryan, Dr. May was confident that he could do what other doctors deemed impossible and was able to successfully perform cataract surgery on his eye. Hernandez is now able to see and can even drive without the use of glasses! He said, "Dr. May gave me the assurance I needed." Hernandez expresses his encouragement to others who are visually impaired to maintain hope. Most patients who suffer from blindness refuse to visit an eye doctor, but Hernandez is a living testimony that miracles can happen. He stated that when he met Dr. May it was a "truly life changing" event. Hernandez wants to bring awareness to the blind community and encourage them to seek alternate solutions with their eye doctor. "Dr. May has an amazing personality with a great sense humor that sets him apart from other surgeons," Hernandez said. "He believes that patient care is most important."

Dr. May attended the University of California at San Diego where he received his undergraduate degree. He then attended the University of California at Davis School of Medicine for his medical degree, followed by an internship and residency at the Los Angeles County - University of Southern California Medical Center. Just prior to joining Wellish Vision, Dr. May was practicing ophthalmology at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Department of Ophthalmology. In addition to his expertise in Cataract, Cornea and Refractive surgery, Dr. May has developed extensive skill in caring for Dry Eye Disease. He is currently studying, performing and lecturing on a new treatment for dry eye that has implications for both Cataract and LASIK surgery.

Dr. May commented, "We have the newest technology at Wellish Vision Institute which enables us to help patients who might not be helped elsewhere. It allows us to provide the personalized treatments that each patient needs. We do what is right for each and every patient."

Following his surgery, Hernandez said "As soon as I got off the operating table, I could see crystal clear!" Since then, Hernandez has had two follow-up appointments with Dr. May and his vision continues to improve.
