Nature's Tears® EyeMist®, the unique dry eye solution® that sponsors Sharon Kleyne's nationally syndicated weekly radio program, The Sharon Kleyne Hour Water Life Science®/Nature's Pharma®, The Power of Water® & Your Health on VoiceAmerica produced by Rose Hong, founder/director of Global Dragon TV in Washington, D.C., is the perfect eye care product for people experiencing somatic awareness.

Kleyne, who has studied human body water, earth's water atmosphere and evaporation for more than thirty years, describes her program as a messenger teaching that water must become a top priority for everyone on the planet. Kleyne believes that stress, anxiety and pain cause strong emotions through over-evaporation of the body's water vapor.

But what is somatic awareness? Kleyne asks her guest, Dr. Risa Kaparo, who answers in this way. "Somatic intelligence," Kaparo explains, "is the way life senses itself from the inside out. It is the life force that is always renewing, always correcting itself. It is a life-unfolding intelligence, an awakening consciousness." Kaparo, who sees life through the eyes of a poet, quotes these great lines from Leonard Cohen, "There is a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in" as a way to describe somatic intelligence. She is also fond of quoting Buddha: "Knowing the body from the body."

From early childhood, New York City native Kaparo learned to heal herself from a series of painful, life-threatening illnesses and circumstances including poverty, a near-death birth experience, abortion trauma, early childhood abuse and gang rape, among others. "We must learn to embody the consciousness we come into this life with," says Kaparo. Kleyne observes that this process is akin to discovering one's rhythm, the rhythm that allows one to breathe and dance with the earth.

Kaparo, author of Awakening Somatic Intelligence: the Art & Practice of Embodied Mindfulness, credits studying yoga with a master teacher for further awakening her somatic intelligence. "We live with an adversarial relationship to gravity," Kaparo says, "and it turns us into objects. Yoga taught me to turn from the inside out, not the outside in."

Kaparo, whose practice was developed over three decades of research, clinical practice and training of health care practitioners, also recalls her years working with the blind at the Lighthouse Institute. She spent many days meditating while wearing a blindfold to get a sense of her students' reality. "When I experienced an epiphany, everything was movement, movement within movement within movement." This led Kaparo to perfect her system, Somatic Learning®, which she has taught at many international institutions including MIT, JFK University and China's Dalian Medical University.
