SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today the NCPDP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that is affiliated with NCPDP, announced the establishment of its 1977 Society as its inaugural donor program to support the Foundation's Annual Fund campaign. The announcement was made by Lee Ann Stember, Board member of the NCPDP Foundation and President & CEO of NCPDP, during her State of Association Report at the NCPDP 2019 Annual Technology and Business Conference.
The NCPDP Foundation is the only foundation with an exclusive focus on advancing the use of standards-based information technology for better healthcare. Its newly launched 1977 Society recognizes donors who support the Vision and Purpose of the NCPDP Foundation by providing monetary donations totaling $1,977 or more within a calendar year. Donations can be made through a one-time donation or monthly or quarterly donations.
The contributions are unrestricted dollars, allowing the NCPDP Foundation to use the funds at its discretion to support grants, proof-of-concept and other research projects, and operational expenses that are approved by the NCPDP Foundation Board.
Stember explained, "The 1977 Society is a wonderful way to acknowledge our roots. We named the program the '1977 Society' in recognition of the year of NCPDP's incorporation. I am honored to make the first formal donation."
To commence this significant milestone in the longevity of the NCPDP Foundation, Mindy D. Smith, BSPharm, R.Ph., MHA, Chair of the Foundation, presented Stember with a label pin to honor her as the inaugural member of the 1977 Society. Twenty-two other donors then took the stage to join the 1977 Society.
"Thank you, Mindy and all of our inaugural 1977 Society members for their generous donations in support of the Foundation's vision and purpose," said Stember. "Our initial donors have catapulted our Annual Fund. We are now more than halfway to our goal!"
