BOLD—Best Organizations for Leadership Development—is NCHL's signature platform promoting comprehensive leadership development practices as a critically important responsibility for healthcare-providing organizations and their senior leaders.

"The biennial leadership survey allows us to identify and celebrate BOLD organizations for their innovation and commitment to leadership development," NCHL President Tim Rice said. "NCHL's research on learning and development practices, engagement, competencies, strategic alignment, talent management, and diversity and inclusion is central to this process."

The ten highest ranking BOLD health systems are: Atrium Health (Charlotte, VA), Aurora Health Care (Milwaukee, WI), BayCare Health System (Tampa, FL), Carilion Clinic (Roanoke, VA), Children's Health (Dallas, TX), Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, OH), Deaconess Health System (Evansville, IN), Memorial Health System (Springfield, IL), Northwell Health (Great Neck, NY), and Stanford Children's Health/Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford (Palo Alto, CA)

Six organizations were recognized for their outstanding efforts in one or more specific leadership practice domains: Boston Children's Hospital (Boston, MA), Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA), Emory Healthcare (Atlanta, GA), Regional Health (Grand Rapids, SD), Rush University Medical Center (Chicago, IL), and UCLA Health (Los Angeles, CA).

"We congratulate the BOLD and High Performer awardees for their leadership in bringing new ideas to healthcare," Cielo Healthcare President Jill Schwieters said. "Developing great leaders to transform healthcare with innovative practices to meet the health needs of our communities and the country is important work."

NCHL will recognize the 16 awardees at its 2018 Human Capital Investment Conference on November 13-14 in Chicago. On November 13, industry leaders will explore the importance of leadership and technology to inform our collective path forward as healthcare leaders, while mitigating the risks that change and innovation might present. That evening, Nancy Howell Agee, president and CEO of Carilion Clinic will be honored as the 2018 recipient of the Gail L. Warden Leadership Excellence Award. The following day the BOLD awardees will showcase their evidence-informed leadership best practices.
