Quantros Platform and IT Consulting Services Provides NACHRI with Data for Healthcare Quality Improvement

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 4 -- The National Association for Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the operations and quality of care in its almost 200 member hospitals, is using a web-based research database and reporting system developed by IT Consulting Services of Quantros to report on quality improvement initiatives.  Quantros is a leading software and services provider for the healthcare industry.

"We needed a scientifically rigorous and evidence based reporting tool for identifying areas for improvement," explains Marlene Jackson, Vice President of Quality for NACHRI. "We also needed a scalable system that could be accessed by all of our member hospitals. Quantros provided all of that and offered insight. We are looking to spread and sustain change and the early prototype was well received by our hospitals."

Many NACHRI hospitals already use the Quantros Regulatory and Reporting Management (RRM) application to report Core Measures data to The Joint Commission. The Quality Transformation Reporting System (QTRS) draws data from RRM and adds project related questions. The common platform allows NACHRI hospitals to realize the economies of scale through the repurposing of their Core Measures data while expanding reporting infrastructure.

NACHRI initially targeted pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) as an area for improvement and demonstrated results in 30 hospitals (soon to be published). Since the PICU project was implemented, projects in pediatric hematology/oncology, nephrology and internal medicine have been initiated and will use the QTRS application.

Dr. Sanjaya Kumar, MD, MPH, President and Chief Medical Officer of Quantros, describes the relationship between NACHRI and Quantros as especially meaningful. "Providing NACHRI with the tools to help their member hospitals was extremely gratifying for us. Having a role in improving the quality of care for one of the most vulnerable patient populations – children – is something we take great pride in."
