The oncology and orthopedics modules include breast cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, as well as pre- and post- care instruction for rotator cuff, shoulder, elbow, knee and hip surgery. Mayo Clinic's evidence-based medical guidelines and longstanding excellence in patient care formed the basis for the clinical information contained in these seven new, easy to use and digest patient education modules.

The first Mytonomy and Mayo Clinic produced breast oncology education was used in a Breast Clinic pilot in Rochester. In a survey of potential patients referred to Mayo Clinic, 60% opted in to view the microlearning Breast Oncology content from a single prompt, and 94% consumed 42 minutes of content on average prior to their visit. The survey also found staff saved 30 minutes per visit with those patients that viewed the content pre-arrival. Patients also reported higher quality patient-clinician interactions as 95% rated their experience with Mayo Clinic as highly satisfied, even before they arrived.

"Helping patients access trusted information and engage in their care can be complex challenges in health care. The collaboration with Mytonomy is helping address these challenges through offering education and health information patients find valuable and understandable," said Sandhya Pruthi, M.D., a Mayo Clinic general internal medicine specialist and Associate Medical Director, Mayo Clinic Global Business Solutions. "Microlearning patient education can enhance patient understanding and improve the patient experience with their health care provider especially for patients presenting with complex conditions. This kind of virtual education can help patients be better informed and engaged in the shared decision-making process and improve the delivery of health care as a whole."

Anjali Kataria, Mytonomy CEO and Co-Founder said: "Working with Mayo Clinic has given us speed to market and the ability to meet multiple demands from other health systems who are looking for a more comprehensive pre-arrival / post-discharge strategy for patients in Oncology and Orthopedics."

All of the microlearning videos produced so far are being delivered through the Mytonomy Patient Experience Cloud Platform® which has proven in IRB studies and Real World Data to deliver very high consumer internet-like usage rates, reductions in anxiety and worry, 60-80% reductions in no-show rates, cost savings, and improved health outcomes.
