Merck Manuals Launches "Medical Mythbusters" Podcast to Set the Record Straight on Medical Legends, Misinformation

Hosted by Merck Manuals editor-in-chief Dr. Robert Porter, the series features engaging and informative discussions with nationally-recognized physicians on a wide variety of topics from diet trends and aging, to hearing loss and spider bites, among others. This is latest innovative content initiative supporting the Manuals pledge to make the best current medical information accessible by up to three billion professionals and patients around the world by 2020.

The Merck Manuals is looking to capitalize on the soaring popularity of podcasts to deliver credible medical information to current and new audiences in an engaging new format. According to recently released research, fifty-one percent of the US population has listened to a podcast this year alone (144 million people).

Season One covers some of the most frequently searched medical topics on the web. Not surprisingly, these topics are prone to a lot of myths and misconceptions and the proliferation of false information. Medical Mythbusters addresses those falsehoods head on throughout the series. This season's topics and the experts Dr. Porter interviews include:
