Find out if you are getting enough Omega-3s at local Walmart stores on September 21 or 22

NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- MegaRed, an Omega-3 supplement brand dedicated to helping support overall health,

will provide free Omega-3 Index test kits and education at Walmart stores nationwide on September 21 and 22. As part of the Walmart Wellness Day program, MegaRed is educating the public about the importance of Omega-3s, an essential nutrient the body needs but can't produce on its own, and how one can find out their Omega-3 Index level and take action if they receive a low result.

Omega-3s have been associated in beneficial ways with overall heart health, improving eye, brain and joint performance.1 But according to a recent study, 98% of people have low Omega-3 levels despite believing they were getting enough from a balanced diet.2 Those who are looking to obtain a higher Omega-3 level should consider dietary changes, including eating at least two servings of fatty fish per week or taking an Omega-3 supplement.

"Many people are not aware if they are consuming enough Omega-3s in their diet," said Annie Walker, VP OTC Merchandising at Walmart Stores. "Making Omega-3 education part of the Walmart Wellness Day program is a wonderful step toward making Omega-3 testing more readily available to the public and providing much-needed information about ways to improve overall health."

Omega-3 levels will be measured with the Omega-3 Index Test, a simple, safe, standardized test that uses a single drop of blood to tell users what percentage of their red blood cells contain Omega-3s. 3 A brief quiz is also available at to provide a general guide for individual Omega-3 scores.
