LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A November 26
article on CBS News reports on the aftermath of a tragic incident which began when a Dallas woman went to Mexico seeking a rhinoplasty and a breast augmentation in preparation for her wedding. A misplaced spinal anesthesia injection led to a month long ordeal which ended in the young woman's death. Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., says that the incident is saddening and infuriating, but also offers an important warning for anyone considering so-called medical tourism. The doctor, who is more familiarly known to his patients as Dr. J, says that patients considering plastic surgery, or any other type of procedure, need to understand that saving money by resorting to cut-rate surgery is always a terrible idea. He adds that, even though most patients survive botched procedures, the aftermath is not only painful and heartbreaking, it can mean years of costly and difficult revision surgeries.
Dr. J says that procedures such as a rhinoplasty (nose job) and breast augmentation are extremely safe and effective when performed by a doctor who has undergone the years of rigorous training and study required to become a fully credentialed plastic surgeon. He adds, however, that it's often difficult to determine the amount of experience and skill doctors and their medical teams have when you're getting a procedure in a foreign country, where lax regulation and corruption can make obtaining accurate information difficult or impossible.
Even when selecting a medical doctor here in the United States, Dr. J notes that patients should only consider board certified plastic surgeons to ensure a good outcome as well as their safety. The doctor adds that he is double board certified in both plastic surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He adds that he believes maintaining both types of certification ensures that he is able to handle all types of situations that may present themselves.
At the same time, Dr. J says that he certainly understands that the cost of a procedure is going to be a concern to the majority of prospective patients. He says, however, that many people tend to overestimate the cost of a procedure and that it rarely determines whether or not an individual decides to obtain a particular procedure. He notes that, in any case, if patients see a doctor with a past track record of satisfied patients and online before-and-after galleries of results they like for similar patients, paying a little bit more is a sound investment in their future.
Dr. J's qualifications as a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon can be seen online. Interested readers may also call his office at (310) 228-3151.
