SAN DIEGO, July 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Marijuana, Inc. (MJNA), the first publicly traded cannabis company in the United States, today announced that it supports the decision of the Senate Appropriations Committee to approve renewal of the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, which prohibits the Justice Department from spending funds to interfere with the implementation of state medical cannabis laws. As America took its latest step in protecting its state-sanctioned medical cannabis programs, just south of the border a group of renowned doctors met to discuss the therapeutic benefits of cannabis. During the LX Annual Meeting and National Congress of the Mexican Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy in Tijuana, Mexico, Medical Marijuana Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® Mexico provided information about cannabinoid products for the treatment of neurodegenerative conditions, such as epilepsy. The event shared results obtained by Mexican doctors using the first cannabis based treatment approved in Mexico that is the Company's Real Scientific Hemp Oil-X™ (RSHO-X™).

"We are encouraged by the United States Senate Appropriations Committee's decision to protect the wellbeing of millions of patients in states that have taken the necessary steps to create a legal cannabis program by renewing this amendment," said Medical Marijuana Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus. "With 60% of US States now with medical cannabis laws in place, it would be absurd not to ensure the success of these fully state-sanctioned cannabis programs."

In the United States, a total of 30 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico now allow for comprehensive public medical cannabis programs. Sixteen states allow the use of low THC, high cannabidiol (CBD).
