ATLANTA, June 14 MedShape Solutions, Inc. was recently awarded top honors and received the prestigious Gold Award for their MORPHIX(TM) Suture Anchor at the recent Medical Device + Design Excellence Awards meeting (MDEA). The panel of jurors awarded the MORPHIX(TM) Anchor the Gold Award based on its superior design and use of a proprietary shape memory polymer, PEEK Altera(TM). Previous winners of the MDEA award include DePuy, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Stryker Corporation (SYK) and Smith & Nephew (SNN).
The MORPHIX Anchor is made from a proprietary shape memory PEEK Altera(TM) that allows the implant to change shape in the body once deployed. The MORPHIX anchor design provides a superior fixation device for orthopedic applications such as rotator cuff repair, tenodesis, and ligament reconstruction of the foot, ankle, knee and elbow. It is the first of many orthopedic devices that are being developed and launched by MedShape Solutions, Inc.
"We are excited about receiving this award from our peers at MDEA as well as the overwhelming acceptance of the MORPHIX device from our surgeon customers," stated Chris Fair, Chief Operating Officer of MedShape Solutions, Inc. "The reaction and response from the marketplace to our material and implant design has been tremendous and we look forward to bringing additional devices to the market in the very near future," stated Fair.
In addition to the recent MDEA award, MedShape Solutions Inc., was awarded "Top Employer for 2010" by the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as "Top 10 Innovative Companies in Georgia" by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). "The recent honors bestowed upon us by Georgia Tech and the TAG group highlight our commitment to building an organization of talented individuals here in Atlanta," stated Kurt Jacobus, PhD, President & CEO of MedShape Solutions, Inc. "We will continue to grow our business over the coming months and years as we build a platform of orthopedic devices utilizing our proprietary shape memory technology," stated Jacobus.
