MT. CLEMENS, Mich., Dec. 22 The last large H1N1 influenza vaccination clinic for the 2009 flu season has been scheduled by the Macomb County Health Department. The county is also offering immunizations at its three health centers in Macomb County: Mount Clemens, St. Clair Shores and Warren, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010. This service will be available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clinic locations and addresses are:

Both the nasal spray and injectable versions of the vaccine will be offered. Pregnant women cannot receive the nasal spray. "Because vaccine supplies are now abundant in Macomb County, there is no reason to arrive early on Dec. 28 or for any of the health center clinics," said Macomb County Health Department Deputy Health Officer Steve Gold.

Children under 10 years old need two doses of vaccine to receive adequate immunity. The second doses need to be given at least 28 days after the first dose. The health department requests that children who received their first dose at an earlier clinic bring the card they received with them, so their records can be updated appropriately.

Bethesda Christian Church is located at 14000 Metropolitan Parkway, on the southeast corner of Schoenherr. The church is located next to Freedom Hill County Park; the entrance to the church is on Schoenherr.

More than 90,000 doses have been distributed to physician offices, hospitals and pharmacies across Macomb County. Call to see if your physician or pharmacy is able to provide this protection for your family. Private physicians and pharmacies may charge an administration fee for providing the vaccine. For more information, visit the department's Web site at www.macombcountymi.gov/publichealth or call the county's flu hot line at 586.466.7923.
