In just 4 months this service which was launched with the objective of providing crucial medical support to patients in need till the four wheeler ambulance reached the emergency location has proven to be a roaring success. The Free emergency service 108 of the MEMS was launched in Mumbai by the Government of Maharashtra - Department of Public Health & National Health, implemented and operated by BVG India with the vision to provide emergency help during the golden hour (Critical period when emergency treatment is likely to be most succesful).

When in medical distress, one can dial the free 108 medical emergency service, to avail the bike ambulance service in ten different areas in Mumbai. Well-trained EMS personnel's are deployed in congested areas of Mumbai such as Bhandup, Mankhurd, Dharavi, Nagpada, Malad, Charkop, Goregaon, Thakur Village, Kalina and Khar Danda. These bike ambulances are equipped with a medical kit, trauma medical management kit and airway management kit to make the most of the critical golden hour.

Dr. Dnyaneshwar Shelke, COO, MEMS 108 comments, "With addition of Motor bike emergency medical first responder in existing fleet of 108 ambulances access to emergency care has improved in parts of Mumbai. It has further helped to save more lives with reduction in response time to emergencies. During the golden hour, when every single second counts, a lot of time is wasted in negotiating traffic and reaching the patient; immediate response is a key feature of this service."
