"AMN Healthcare's President and CEO, Susan Nowakowski was instrumental in starting NurseZone more than nine years ago, realizing that no other resource of its kind was available to the working nurse," explained Carol Burke, Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for AMN Healthcare and editorial director for NurseZone.com. "Since then we've continued to provide added value to the healthcare industry by reporting on legislation, staffing issues, hospital and healthcare trends. In addition, we cover new devices and technology and career information, all with a focus of helping to retain these professionals within the nursing industry."

NurseZone.com provides career-focused articles, including industry news for bedside nurses and nursing leadership as well as students and recently graduated nurses. Award-winning journalists and nurses provide the content for NurseZone, which covers daily news and in-depth features on healthcare trends and how they affect nurses and the healthcare industry at large. NurseZone is also known for its community and Web 2.0 features such as RSS feeds, blogs, videos, widgets and more, making it even easier for nurses and students to stay in touch with their industry 24/7.

In addition to the site award, the article "Hospitals Infiltrated by Community-based Superbug," written by associate editor Amanda Sounart, received an honorable mention in the category of non-deadline news stories.
