ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc. announced that it has again filed a lawsuit against Fotona, LLC in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Orange, alleging violation of the California's Uniform Trade Secrets act, Unfair Competition by Fotona for unlawful, false, unfair and fraudulent business practices which are untrue and misleading, as well as other wrongdoings committed by Fotona against Millennium.

This is the second time in three years that Millennium found it necessary to file a lawsuit against Fotona for business interference.

Mark Monaghan, CEO of Millennium Dental Technologies states, "Millennium has always focused on doing what is in the patient's best interest, including investing millions of dollars in research to ensure optimal treatment outcomes that are safe and effective for patients."

"When rival laser companies and their sales representatives provide false and misleading statements of efficacy or comparisons to the LANAP protocol not based in research or science – and clinicians believe these statements – the results include confusion in the marketplace leading to deceived doctors and patient injuries," commented Dawn M. Gregg, DDS, Vice President of Operations of Millennium Dental Technologies and Training Director for the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD).

Co-founder and President of Millennium Dental Technologies, Robert H. Gregg II, DDS adds, "Doctors have a legal duty to provide full and complete informed patient consent. Patients deserve it and the law requires it. Clinicians who promote laser periodontal treatments without research or FDA clearance, and without informing their patients, are violating their fiduciary duty to their patients which is intentional and willful unprofessional conduct."
